The Program for Mexican Communities Abroad sponsors
soccer teams throughout the United States. The program also holds an annual
championship, the Copa de Mexico. The soccer games provide the Mexican
Foreign Ministry with an opportunity to educate those in attendance about
services available to them, from housing to AIDS prevention.
