The very great Inclination I find in
myself to improve in Learning is the
cheif motive that excites me to offer
this Petition, & even this would have been
insufficeant, had I any remote expec-
tation of another opportunity, if the one
which now offers should be laid aside;
And inasmuch as this is quite an un-
expected, & most likely, the only oppor-
tunity I shall ever have, of acquiring
that which through my whole Life I
have most desired, I hope I shall be
justified, dear Father, in pleading
with you as earnestly as I am able,
to grant me my Request.
When you was pleased the
other Day, which was almost
