I left home this Morning by
eight on my second Journey by
Order of Synod, to the new Set-
-tlements on the Western Fron-
-tiers of America. It is the 13th
Day of Novem: 1775. Mr. Andw. Hun-
ter is going by the same Order.
We had appointed to meet in Sa-
-lem by twelve. We leave New-
Jersey in a melancholy State!
Battalions of Militia & Minute-
Men embodying--Drums & Fifes
rattling--Military Language [in]
every Mouth--Numbers who a few
Days ago were plain Countrymen
have now clothed themselves in
martial Forms--Powdered Hair
